Quite a contemporary work for the current exhibition but I really admire the painterly quality of it. A modern impressionism, if there is such a thing, emulating the blur of a moving camera or a still of news footage. Tickertape parades are a distinctly American phenomena and I sense the slight distance this British artist seems to feel, a tourist recording something unfamiliar but equally exciting and fascinating in the experience. This is an earlyish work for Radford and quite different from his current output. A bit of a wild card but a powerful painting.
