For some years Richard worked mainly as a painter of landscapes, portraits, still lifes, and aerial views of grand houses. Today, his distinctive pictures are reinventions of reality, based on a lifetime of drawing and painting and looking at life; he paints ‘people doing things’.He is a past president of the Royal Watercolour Society (2006 to 2009), and a member of the New English Art Club, the Royal Society of British Artists, and The Art Workers’ Guild. He has had many solo exhibitions in Britain and USA. His work is held in the V&A, the Museum of London, the collection of the National Trust, as well as in many private collections worldwide.
He lives with his wife, Sue, in the far west of Cornwall.
