"I’m not sure if this force of nature is a poet or a factory owner, her pose is haughty but not aristocratic. I can’t help but imagine her having a broad Yorkshire accent. Not a screaming beauty but definitely someone you’d want by you in a tight spot. The artist could be any number of painters working between the wars, it is painted in what is almost the house style of the Academy or New English of the period. Her colours are splendid, black and red and (sort of) gold."
