Per-Axel (Pelle) Åberg (1909-1964) - SOLD WORK

Known as Pelle, he was the son of the visual artist Axel Wilhelm Åberg and the grandson of the theatrical scene painter Wilhelm Åberg . He received his basic art education from his father and worked with him for twelve years as a decorative painter whilst studying at the Technical School in Stockholm from 1927 to 1929. He travelled widely, painting in Italy, France, England and Spain.

He was a founding member of the Young Artists Salon from the group's formation in 1938 and participated in several of the group's exhibitions as well as in group exhibitions arranged by the Swedish General Art Association . He held a number of solo and two man shows, notably with Olle Nordberg, Sven-Olof Rosén, Tore Wideryd, Bengt Ellis and Björn Hallström. He was regularly commissioned to decorate the walls of Restaurants and Hotels and was a set painter for two of the leading theatres in Stockholm. His work is represented in the permanent collections of the Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde, the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm, Jönköping Museum , Norrköping Art Museum , Östergötland Museum , Stockholm City Museum and the Ateneum in Helsinki.
