Having been educated at St Paul’s Girls’ School and the University of Edinburgh, she qualified as a barrister and pursued a career in inter national development for 14 years, living for much of that time in Sierra Leone and Pakistan. Lotta was drawn to painting at an early age, taking courses at the Slade and École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. However, the exigencies of a legal career did not allow her to pursue a career in art, and she came to painting full-time only in 2018.

Since then, Lotta has exhibited in a wide range of public exhibitions, including many at the Mall Galleries – with the New English Art Club, ING Discerning Eye, the Royal Society of Marine Artists, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, and the Society of Women Artists – as well as the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol. In 2021 she was awarded The British Art Prize, supported by Panter & Hall and Artist & Illustrators magazine. Lotta is an elected member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and an associate member of the Society of Women Artists. A solo show of her paintings was held at the National Museum of Moldova in October 2025.
