It has been some years since we held an ‘eclectic’ exhibition – we acquire works on the secondary market regularly, whether from private collections, auctions or even the depths of other dealers stores. There is no common thread to this collection save that at the moment of discovery we felt strongly about each painting that we had to own it. From a brief survey it could be said that our taste is largely twentieth century, British and figurative. As in previous exhibitions in this series, the paintings have been collected over a couple of decades – the most recent arriving only a few months ago and the oldest bought more than twenty years ago.
Some of the artists will be familiar to collectors of the period and others we consider unjustly neglected, all the works are chosen for their strong image and the obvious talents of their creator.
