In the twenty years since we first discovered the dusty collection of canvases in a Gourock attic, we have held five very successful estate exhibitions of Alexander Galt’s work.
One of the forgotten greats of the Scottish interwar period, he was loathe to sell his work and although feted by his peers the dearth of work on the market led to market obscurity in the late twentieth century.
Galt’s work is now well known amongst collectors of Scottish painting and new releases from the estate are rare and eagerly anticipated.
