Born in London, John studied Sculpture at St. Martins School of Art in the early 1970’s. He has taught sculpture, drawing and painting at all levels up to M.A and was Senior Lecturer at Chelsea College of Art. He exhibits regularly with the London Group where he has been a member since 1978 and the Royal Watercolour Society where he served as Vice President from 2017 to 2019. He has been awarded a number of residencies including the Triangle Workshop in New York, Rochdale Art Gallery, The Lookout Tower, Aldeburgh and Casa Zia Lina, in Elba. Public collections include the Fitzwilliam Museum, Royal Watercolour Society, London Borough of Camden, Unilever PLC, Leicestershire Education Authority, Sunderland Art Centre, Rochdale Art Gallery and Triangle Arts Association.
