
Born in 1922, Denis served in the RAF as a navigator from 1942 to 1946. He studied at St Martin’s School of Art 1946 to 1949 and at Brighton College of Art a year later. During a long and successful career in art education he taught at He taught at numerous art colleges, including Hammersmith School of Art and Chelsea School of Art, serving as Senior Lecturer at the latter until his retirement in 1986. He has exhibited many times at the Royal Academy and with the societies at the Mall Galleries, including the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the New English Art Club, being a member of the latter. Having now past his hundredth year he is still painting avidly.
