Chris Bushe RSW - The Medieval Landscape.

These new paintings are a result of recent trips to Tuscany, Sardinia and Corsica. They are a response to the timelessness and beauty of the landscapes I encountered on these travels. The hilltop settlements that seem to grow out of the land they were built on, isolated castles that watch over the countryside, and the medieval urban cities with their towers, churches and archways, are all elements in these landscapes that have stimulated and greatly inspired me. The sense that the landscape and the architecture of these regions still resonates with the spirit of the Middle Ages is something I have tried to capture in this recent body of work.
