A native of Yorkshire John has enjoyed a long and glittering career as an international illustrator and caricature artist for the world's intelligent press. He has produced many covers for the Spectator and has contributed to Time, Vogue, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, The Tatler and The Sunday Times among many other publications. He was resident caricaturist on the BBC's Newsnight for most of the 1990s and for many years produced 'Man in the News' at the FT. He was named caricaturist of the year at the 10th Annual Cartoon Art Trust Awards and was awarded a certificate of merit by the Society of Illustrators for his work in Rolling Stone.
One of our great British political cartoon satirists he continues a proud tradition in the British press that began with Rowlandson. This small selection of original drawings and watercolours are a visual jaunt through the political and celebrity zoo from the 1980s to the present day. Each beautifully well observed through the prism of John's sharp humour they remind us perhaps how close to the grotesque his subjects can often approach in reality.
