'Evening, The Piazetta, Venice' Oil on board, 18" x 24" |
Edward Seago RWS RBA (1910-1974) Early study under Bertram Priestman RA and some encouragement form Sir Alfred Munnings led to a lucrative early career in equestrian portraiture. However, after a successful period covering the Italian campaign with Auchinleck, Seago returned to England and the more mature style for which he is best remembered. He consistently sold out his annual exhibitions at Colnaghi's and was avidly collected by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and HM The Queen Mother.
