Marcel Rieder (1852 - 1942) Born in the Haut-Rhin Region of France, Rieder studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris under the great figure painter Alexander Cabanal. He won several Medals at the Paris Salon and developed a reputation for moody interior scences, lit by a single light source.
