James Paterson RSA PRSW (1854-1932) Born in Glasgow, he attended watercolour classes given by A D Robertson and then studied in Paris until 1882. Paterson moved to Moniaive in 1884 and painted the landscape in oils and watercolours in the open air. In 1888 he was instrumental in establishing 'The Scottish Art Review' which became the mouthpiece of the Glasgow School. In the later 1890's Paterson began spending more time in Edinburgh finally settling there in 1905. View all works by James Paterson on the P&H website |
