He has been painting professionally since 1972, concentrating largely on the landscape around his Cheshire studio. Since then he has gained wide recognition – he was elected a senior member of the Pastel Society in 1983 and has subsequently won the Patterson Pastel Award twice. His work has been exhibited widely including at the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Society of Oil Painters. As a full member, he now also shows regularly at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
