James Lawrence Isherwood (1917 - 1988)

A largely self taught and eccentric Northern painter, Isherwood was born and lived in Wigan in Lancashire. He ran his own gallery and held hundreds of exhibitions of his work across the country during his lifetime. He painted portraits of Gracie Fields and Francis Chichester and his work can be found in Churchill and Pembroke Colleges in Cambridge. His work has become increasingly collectible in the last few years.
