Francis Campbell Boileau Cadell RSA (1883-1937)

One of the four ‘Scottish Colourists’, Cadell was born in Edinburgh and at sixteen studied in Paris at the Academie Julian. While in France exposure to work by the early Fauves proved his most lasting influence. One of the best known twentieth century Scottish painters, Cadell was included in the major exhibition of the ‘Colourists’ work at the Royal Academy.
