Maxwell Ashby Armfield (1882 - 1972)

Born in Hampshire, Armfield attended Birmingham School of Art before continuing his studies in Paris and Italy. Commercially he had a very successful career, exhibiting regularly at the Royal Academy, the Leicester Galleries and the New English Art Club. He was principally represented in London by the Fine Art Society.
